Day trip from Athens to Augusta with the The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at The University of Georgia
Join artist Philip Juras and author Dorinda Dallmeyer for a day motor coach trip to the Morris Museum in Augusta to experience an exhibition of Philip's paintings. The excursion will include short stops at sites Bartram visited as he made his way west from Augusta into the interior. Our destination, the Morris Museum of Art, is one of Georgia's finest museums, situated along the Riverwalk in Augusta. We will have a box lunch on the Museum grounds and enjoy a guided tour of the exhibit, with expert commentary by Philip Juras. We will depart by motor coach at 9:00 am from the Home Depot parking lot on Epps Bridge Road and return by 5:00 pm. Registration Required.

Toddler Time: Art Adventures with Nature. View the exhibition, listen to Deborah Kogan Ray’s children’s book The Flower Hunter, and make your own flower. Museum family members and parents, free; nonmembers, $4 per participant. Registration required.

Saturday, July 9, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Artist Workshop: Nature Hike and Sketching with Philip Juras. Explore Silver Bluff with Philip Juras as he discusses William Bartram’s historic travels and sketch from nature while learning about ecological history. Includes materials and a light picnic lunch. Members, $25; nonmembers, $40. Paid registration due by July 1.

Lecture: Bartram’s Living Legacy. Dorinda Dallmeyer, of the University of Georgia and editor of Bartram’s Living Legacy, moderates a panel discussion about the book and William Bartram’s history. Participating essayists include Philip Juras, John Lane, associate professor and director of the Goodall Environmental Studies Center at Wofford College, and Dr. Drew Lanham, professor of wildlife biology at Clemson University.
